Postcards that make you want to move!
Stockton Schools Sport Partnership (SSSP) believe that all young people should be encouraged to lead a healthy and active lifestyle and that it is important for all children to develop a lifelong enthusiasm for sport and physical activity. We were tasked with creating some imaginative postcards for activity kits they were developing for 7-8 year olds.
What we did: Creative direction / GRAPHIC DESIGN / ILLUSTRATION
Teesside has some of the highest rates of inactivity, but we know from research that being physically active can genuinely transform lives. It has the power to bring people together, improve mental health as well as keep our bodies fit and strong. SSSP aims is to create opportunities for children to develop their physical, social and emotional skills through experiencing high quality PE, competitions and sports leadership.
By offering various different packages of support to schools, SSSP help kick-start active lifestyles for young people, boost teachers’ confidences, encourage participation in competitive sport and the use of the word “sport” as a tool for ‘whole school improvement’.
We used a combination of hand-drawn illustrations and photography to create a fun, vibrant style for the postcards. We put ourselves in the shoes of the 7-8 year olds’ and thought, ‘if we were that age, what would we engage with?’ and the designs took shape from there naturally. We chose one consistent colour palette and used these colours in different combinations to give each postcard its own identity.
“Studio Resolve has designed some lovely activity cards for our Sports Partnership to use with family engagement. They were helpful with design ideas, printing suggestions and finding solutions to any issues that came up. They kept us in the loop throughout the process and were a pleasure to work with!”

As well as containing the postcards we designed, the activity kits contain all of the equipment the children need to play fifteen different games, from ‘hand tennis’ to ‘stacking cups.’ The main illustration on the front of the postcards aims to bring to life the game, whilst the back is designed to be more informative, with instructions, tips and equipment checklist.
“Working on projects that really help society and the world move forwards is a massive passion for me. It’s why Studio Resolve exists. Living an active life is one of the best things you can do for a happy life so I was absolutely delighted to be asked to work on this design project.”
